WellOPT
Our client, a leading project management consultants in the upstream oil and gas business, discussed the feasibility of developing a holistic drilling project delivery process technology that can be expanded to any project beyond drilling as a hybrid model
In today’s world, due to the high uncertainties, risks and complexity, there is no such project delivery process technology for drilling of oil and gas wells. Most of the existing ERP and project management models are not suitable and/or effectively for drilling projects.
Further traditional stage gate or agile or combined hybrid models are not highly successful in drilling projects due to the same reasons of high uncertainties, risks and complexity involved.
We then went through with our Client the whole model of drilling project delivery process and developed a project scope that will fulfill the requirements and create a novel drilling project delivery process model. Further, the scope was expanded to create the capability to suit projects beyond drilling of oil and gas wells of any level of complexity
We had commenced the development of WellOPT with a target to finish the first version by end Dec 2021
Well OPT is an advanced model that integrates the stage gate, agile and our client innovated resilent process to enhance the integrated project delivery technology for drilling and other complex projects
This is how project definition will look like:
iC2Dril – LAH Look Ahead
Our client, a leading project management consultants in the upstream oil and gas business, discussed the feasibility of developing a holistic iC2 xxx model (C stands for “Connect” and subscript 2 for “to” and xxx for any project or model name like iC2 Dril, iC2 Know or iC2 Execute), especially for drilling projects. In today’s world, due to the high uncertainties, risks and complexity, there is no such project delivery process technology for drilling of oil and gas wells. Most of the existing ERP and project management models are not suitable and/or effectively for drilling projects.
Although the industry has several models to use for drilling project execution, there are still significant gaps and if filled, they would enhance and enrich the drilling project operations for elevated performance.
We then went through with our Client the gaps, requirements and designs for some novel and innovative solutions to improve the efficiency of the drilling operations.
Accordingly the first model Look Ahead (“LAH”) has been perceived, conceptualised and designed and we had commenced the development of L AH in 2020 with a target to finish the first version and launch to the industry by March 2021.
LAH is a niche product that is one of the essential requirement for all drilling projects
Look Ahead is one of the most essential tools used in drilling project which describes the expected activities while drilling a well say in 6 days, 12 days, 18 days from today or at any day. Some Engineers follow 7, 14 and 21 days routine. This forms the basis for operations team as well as the service providers to effectively plan for the logistics of mobilizing equipment and materials for the future activities in time (not too early or not too late) including transportation by road, vessels and personnel movement through choppers/vessels. Further, the Look Ahead is also used by interfacing disciplines like subsurface, facilities and production to understand and plan their own activities to integrate with that of drilling. The management team uses the Look Ahead to understand the progress and well status whenever needed.
LAH is an innovative software solution that allows the person responsible for daily Look Ahead to generate it in a PC. Once it is saved, it gets updated to all the users in the LAHapplication in their PC or Mobile. The users can just log in to LAH App in their mobile to review the Look Ahead with a provision to send and receive messages and several good features to search and find information for any date or phase of drilling.
LAH will be a very useful tool/App for all drilling projects and is scheduled to be launched in the industry in March 2021.
